The state of Rajasthan has one of the lowest literacy rates of India. With less than 70 percent of people being literate and only 52 percent of women falling in the literate category. These statistics are driven largely by economic disparities, gender discrimination, caste discrimination, a lack of infrastructure, and technological barriers.
At the ImpAct center we are committed to providing quality education, free of cost, to over 80 impoverished children ranging from the ages of 6 to 17 living in the slums and urban dwellings of Jaipur, India. We offer a number of after-school classes including Maths, English, Hindi, Arts, Handicrafts, computer education, and general knowledge. The ImpAct center also acts as a community mobilization center that helps to stress the importance of education for both boys and girls.
The area surrounding the community that ImpAct serves has a lack of financially accessible schools for families to send their children to. ImpAct aims to help bridge that gap through our Scholarship Program. Through the School Education Sponsorship Program we connect children with a sponsor to help ease the financial burden of education. With a sponsor’s support a child will gain admission to a local school with all of the necessary materials such as uniforms, stationary, books, and nutrition.
