Over one-fourth of the urban population of India today lives in urban slums under inhumane conditions. Inaccessibility to healthcare, irregular income, high levels of illiteracy and lack of negotiating capacity to demand better services, are the root causes of the increased susceptibility to disease and ill health that they face.
At ImpAct with the help from international nurses and doctors, we promote health awareness campaigns and health education every week for the whole community within the Jaipur slum region. Our aim is to prevent serious illness among not just the slum but the whole community.
Once a month all the children of our center undergo a medical check up. We ensure that the families are educated about the procedures of government dispensaries and hospitals. Once in 3 months we run mega-medical camps free of cost in various slums of Jaipur. These camps are of 5 days and target 250-300 underprivilaged people in a day.
